❓ Annotator Guide

This tool is used to review AI-generated character images and select the best 25 for model training. Here’s everything you need to know.

🎯 Your Goal

You will review a batch of ~30 AI-generated poses for a character. Your job is to approve the best 25 that accurately match the character’s design. Use the Hero Reference panel on the right to compare every image against the official character look.

⭐ Hero Reference Panel (right side)

• Shows official reference images for the character - front, 3/4, side, and back views
• Click any thumbnail to expand it for detailed comparison
• Click ⬅ All to return to the 4-up view
• Double-tap any image to zoom in

✓ Approving Images

• Click ✓ Approve on any image you want in the final dataset
• Approved images turn green
• Click ✕ Undo to remove your approval - the image stays but won’t be exported
• Aim to approve exactly 25 images. The status bar at top shows your current approved count

✔ What to Look For (approve if…)

• Character proportions match the reference images
• Costume colors, accessories, and details are correct
• Full body is visible (head to toe)
• White background, no shadows
• Pose is clear and readable

❌ What to Reject (do NOT approve if…)

• Wrong colors (e.g. different costume shade, wrong hair color)
• Missing accessories (hat, belt, emblem, etc.)
• Body proportions look wrong or inconsistent
• Face doesn’t match the character
• Body parts cut off or out of frame
• Blurry, distorted, or low-quality render

🛠 Button Reference

✏️ Fix	Describe what’s wrong - AI will try to regenerate with corrections
🔄 Try Again	Regenerate the same pose from scratch (useful when character looks off-model)
🔧 Manual	Flag for manual artist repair - adds to Manual Queue for later review
🤖 AI Rank	AI scores all images by character consistency - shown as color overlays (green=good, red=poor). Does not re-sort images.
🔲 Grid	See all images in a compact overview grid
✅ Finalize	Export your 25 approved images as a versioned dataset to Google Drive - only do this when the supervisor asks
⚙️ Manage	Admin settings: add batches, upload reference images - supervisors only
